The Offline Flyer That Worked Today
« on: October 27, 2011, 05:43:44 am »
I got this offline course for mobile sites and had some psd templates for flyers, biz cards etc.
So I whipped one up and posted it at the grocery store posting board next to my daughters daycare when I dropped her off this morning by 2pm this afternoon had 4 calls and 3 sales!
$199 for the mobile site $10 bucks a month hosting.

Interesting. Obviously in daycare there's a lot of business owners that would see the flyers and mobile marketing is HOT right now. I was just talking to my hair dresser(salon owner) about mobile apps and how they can be used to get more people into the salon.

This serves to remind us that you can do well with offline marketing with the right campaigns in the right places as opposed to just going for volume.

This is a great method to do some offline marketing. Also one should be honest and punctual when the delivery time comes.

Funny I got a Salon Client last month, she approached me for a redesign as she just purchased the Salon,  at the end got her into a fanpage set up and mobile site with a small monthly seo package.  She has booked 3 people from FB contact form and 2 people via the booking engine on her site.  She is over the moon :) had no idea the online world is the place to be nowadays

Definitely encouraging...you guys should look into adding SMS and QR codes into the mix. Then you could leverage the lists that you build with these clients send out blasts for other businesses.

Currently working on a couple of different setup.  One is setting up mobile coupons for local restaurants, along the lines of text PIZZA to 1-111-111-1111 to get free drinks...then you can hit the list whenever business is slow or the restaurant has a promotion.

Another is real estate listings (this is what I'm currently working on setting up) - text ADDRESS to 1-111-111-1111 to receive more information - sort of like a digital brochure.  The reason I'm targeting this one initially is that it has repeat business built in and even if it takes 6 months to sell a house using the system, the realtor will still make a profit on just that one house.

And the last one is one I heard about in a webinar last night...setting up a local job board where applicants text in to be on the list.  The you contact local businesses that need workers and offer to blast it to your list of people looking for work.  This is probably going to be backburnered until I get the other two worked out, but has some decent potential once it's up and going.

Plus, all of these offer a way to get your foot in the proverbial door so that you can hit the businesses with SEO services, mobile sites, video, social marketing...anything that you've got...

And just forgot to add, I'm planning on using long codes as they are, at least in my mind, easier to remember...if you think about it, we've all been programmed to remember phone numbers so that if you start dropping 5 digit short codes on people, they will just get confused.  Plus with long codes, you don't have to worry about the 'naughty neighbor' problem or if your short code carrier works with a particular carrier.

ND so what company/software/plugins can you recommend for this?  Any company's working with Canadian mobile carriers?

5_4_Fighting - I'm working with Twilio.  First signed up with them because of a WP plugin that I found out about on another forum, but recently I've moved onto openVBX.

From what I've heard (and I have no direct experience living in the states), they are supposed to work in Canada. You might check them out.  If I remember right, they use US numbers but since there are no LD charges associated with SMS, I think they might be the solution that you are looking for.

Most people I know can't remember 7 digit phone numbers that easily. :-) 7 digit is the "limit" for short term storage without using any association techniques but I'd definitely go with 5.

I don't know who these people who have been programming us to have better memories, but I certainly would like to run into them :-)

Anyway, 5 is very easy to remember. The only people who won't remember 5 are people who are on drugs/alcohol.

I get what you are saying and agree to a point...I'm dealing with mainly printed material that they have in hand, so it really isn't an issue.  If it was for a road sign or commercial of some kind, I could see how short codes might be worth the added expense.

Thanks looking into it also came across http://trumpia.com looks pretty good and white label too.  They also over email marketing which is kinda good for me as I use icontact for myself and some customers wouldn't mind having sms and email under one ui.

How about your pricing model for the end client from what I have found pricing seems to be all over the map :(
