Ok so I was trolling on FB 2 nights ago....and noticed a local company which I am a "Fan"of ......They are not following FB Guidelines when it comes to running promotions or contests. Basically they were using FB functionality as a entry process to the contest. FB BIG NO NO. So I just hit info tab and got the contact email.
I sent a friendly email with the Title "Facebook Fan" Just a friendly heads up from a FB fan, mentioned that I had noticed the contest and due to my work I am familiar with the FB TOS and Guidelines. Mentioned that they were breaking a rule, gave the link to the promotions and guidelines page & a link to my blog post on the topic from May. I also said I didn't want to see one of my Fav places banned from FB when FB is a Massive Customer & Lead generator. Also mentioned that its been known that some business owners were reporting the competition for infractions like this and suggested to remove the post.
Bam email from the manager yesterday Thank you so much for the heads up. I was just piggy backing the idea from other business i saw doing it. Will look into other ways to utilize FB By the way we are doing a 2 for 1 customer appreciation tomorrow. I responded no problem glad to be of help. Any other questions shoot me a email.
So I took my eldest daughter and her friend in for 2 for 1 they went and got in line while I got gas across the parking lot. While pumping gas got a email on my phone from the manager next time you are in ask for me we need to talk! So I did just that and laughed with her about the timing of the email and such but anyway. ... In talks now on multiple locations (contest/coupon apps with custom fan pages) for our area and a North American Franchise.....talk about getting the foot in the door.
