If you work more than 8 hours a day consider this.....
« on: October 22, 2011, 12:45:01 am »
The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him the most about humanity, he answered" man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; The result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived."

With that being said. Don't work too hard guys. Leave spare time for the things you love, the people you love and some good exercise.

I put my health off for awhile trying to push forward. I have come a long way since then.

I used to work 16 hour days, leave the house once a month because I was going to MAKE IT!

Then I saw lack of production.

I eventually learned that having a set schedule and only working 8 hours a day was best.

You push yourself harder during that time frame and it sounds like it wouldn't help but it actually does.

Don't strain yourself. Enjoy life.

Wow, this is a great post EC and everything you said is so true.

Funny how good things happened in life only when we let go and this is true for every aspect of our life - work, health, relationships.

Plus, really, when it comes to your health take a 15 minute walk break every hour or two you spend sitting down. Your back will thank you in a few years.

I'd have to agree...when I have all the time in the world to get something done, never seems to be that important.  But give me a deadline and I'll really keep my nose to the grindstone to get it done...thanks for the tips.

People believe that hard work produces results, but that's really not the case. Hard work just makes us tired and miserable. What produces results is an unshakable focus in a goal and a belief that you'll succeed. We sometimes look at people who work really hard and succeed and we attribute their success to their hard work, but in actual fact it wasn't the hard work that produced their success but rather their determination and faith in their ability to succeed no matter what.

You can see this in business quite clearly. It's not the hard workers who make the money but the men who bring it all together. Their imagination creates plans/strategies and they execute those plans.

This is a mini-game from bioshock on the xbox 360 and it sums up things perfectly. You have electricity flow which is seeping through slowly and you have to line up the "pipes" so the electricity reaches the end point. The "hard work" would be the electricity and all we're doing is "lining up pipes" to harness that hard work in a useful way.

:-)

If this kind of thinking interests you I recommend looking into the book "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. It's a classic, but most people don't really understand it. Henry Ford and Thomas Edison among others were involved in the creation of the book and fully supported the ideas and conclusions in the book so it's pretty powerful stuff and the real deal if your mind is ready to accept what its saying :-)

Yep I agree, it is just like studying after a certain amount of time, you become unproductive, and you would be so much more efficient if you let the batteries recharge.
